Luis was born on February 7th, 1980 in Itu, Brazil. As a junior competed at national tournaments in Brazil and also at the COSAT circuit in South America. When reached the age of 15 he moved to Atlanta (USA) to train at International Tennis Academy with Dan Cassidy, former top 60 ATP. In United States he competed at national tournaments and Future tournaments as well.
Luis received a scholarship to play for Georgia Perimeter College where he was a two time National Champion. He then transfered to play for Florida Gulf Coast University where he graduated with a marketing degree.
Luis has coached many top players at International Tennis Academy in Atlanta, Brazil and Spain. He is fluent in english, spanish and portuguese.
